Space to Create! March

Join us every Saturday for sessions to draw, make and build together. Activities are inspired by our current exhibitions.

FREE. Suitable for all aged 4 and over. Under 16’s must be accompanied at all times by an adult.

Drop-in times: 11am to 1pm

Saturday 2 March

Make your own paper! Use recycled scraps to create your very own paper sheets! Use tea & coffee to stain paper, or create textures using salt! Come and learn new skills and get creative!

Saturday 9 March

Art Asia is working in partnership with John Hansard Gallery on an exciting new project called Mela Monument. This is part of Co-Creating Public Space, which gives local communities a voice and a part in shaping our shared public spaces.

We are working with lead artist, Permindar Kaur and Hampshire based artists, Rabia Raja and Ren Fang Wooldridge to develop new artworks to be displayed at the Mela Festival – Art Asia, on 13 July 2024.

Come along with your friends and family.  Share your thoughts, ideas, and experiences of Southampton Mela. What does it mean to you and for the wider community?

Saturday 16 March

Come and explore our Artist Pop Up space with artist Alys Scott-Hawkins! Alys has taken over our Active Space inspired by Pia Arke’s show Silences and Stories. Create, play, explore and join in with Alys’ artwork!

Saturday 23 March

Inspired by the fair isle knitting seen throughout Pia Arke’s exhibition, explore patterns, designs and have a go at creating your own knitting pattern!

Saturday 30 March

Join local artist Emma Moxey explore our current exhibitions! Aged 14-19? Join Emma afterwards between 2:30-4:30pm for our youth group JHG Collective!
