An evening of live poetry at John Hansard Gallery, featuring Kandace Siobhan Walker and Mira Mattar.
Come to hear (and/or see) poetry and experimental prose from two of the most exciting new voices in UK writing. This poetry reading marks the culmination of an exciting summer series of workshops bridging performance and practice, digital and physical, critical and creative readings, that has been co-organised with Southampton’s English Department and the Winchester School of Art.

Biographies:
Kandace Siobhan Walker is a Canadian-born Jamaican Gullah-Geechee writer and filmmaker. She is an editor at bath magg. She was a recipient of an Eric Gregory Award and was the winner of The White Review Poet’s Prize in 2021. Her debut poetry pamphlet, Kaleido, will be published by Bad Betty Press in 2022. She grew up in Wales and lives in London. She is represented by Abi Fellows at The Good Literary Agency.
Mira Mattar writes fiction and poetry. She is an independent researcher, editor, and tutor. Her novel, Yes, I Am A Destroyer was published in 2020 by Ma Bibliothèque and her chapbook, Affiliation, was published in 2021 by Sad Press. Her first collection of poems, The Bow, was recently published by The 87 Press. A new chapbook is forthcoming from Veer2. She regularly reads her work in the UK and abroad. Mira lives and works in London.
