Ahead of Southampton Pride this month, we are delighted to announce the winner of our HIV/AIDS awareness Open Call, with the winning artwork set to be installed on John Hansard Gallery’s windows this week!

The final design, Fight AIDS Not Gays, has been created by illustrator Emily Foster, with her artwork taking you on a journey from the start of the epidemic to the present, focusing on diagnosis, protest, research, and our continued efforts to enable individuals to live their lives. As a queer artist, Emily wished to highlight how HIV affects the queer community, whilst also making the piece inclusive to show how it can impact us all.

Emily’s work focusses on authentically representing marginalised people, raising awareness, and bringing joy!

The project is led by Southampton Pride, in partnership with John Hansard Gallery, City Eye, and GO! Southampton.
