Space to Create! February/March programme

Join us every Saturday for sessions to draw, make and build together. Activities are artist-led and inspired by our exhibitions.

FREE. Suitable for all aged 4 and over. Under 16’s must be accompanied at all times by an adult.

Chinese New Year
Join us for Chinese New Year celebrations! Come along for lots of creative activities in the Year of the Rabbit!

Saturday 11 February
With Joey Walters
Join local artist Joey Walters and explore our new exhibitions! Opening on 11 February, come along to the gallery for a first look at David Blandy’s Atomic Light and Bani Abidi’s The Song, then get creative by taking part in our free workshop led by Joey.

Saturday 18 February
Dystopian creatures
What will people or animals look like 1000 years from now? Use your 3D skills to build a model of what you think they may look like! Use recycled materials to build, draw, create and design to make a futuristic creature!

Saturday 25 February
Sound Art!
Use everyday materials to create sound! Inspired by Bani Abidi’s exhibition, use materials found around our Active Space to create mechanisms of sound. Record your creations on an iPad, or use GarageBand to turn your sound art into a song!

Saturday 4 March
With Deborah Goatley-Birch
Come along and work with local artist Deborah Goatley-Birch who will get us creating, discovering and playing with fabrics and recycled materials to create one large collaborative weaving! Work together to repurpose materials in response to David Blandy’s exhibition Atomic Light on show in our galleries.

Saturday 11 March
Clay Creatures!
Use clay to create creatures from the future! How will animals look if planet Earth has been destroyed? Use your imagination to get stuck in and make a clay sculpture based on a dystopian animal!
